This tool makes it easy to measure the wear on bicycle chains. If it rest on top of the chain, then you can continue to use the chain. If it slides right through then the chain is so worn that it will damage your chainrings and cassette, so it should be replaced as soon as possible.
In the additional photos a different model of chain wear checking tool is used to demonstrate the functionality. We have multiple suppliers of these tools so yours may differ from the photos, but all work in the same way.
