The B&M Cycle Star is the only mirror I've ever found to be useful on a bicycle. It's strong, it doesn't rattle around, and the optics are good. We've fitted them on our recumbent bikes, but they also fit upright bikes. The short and long stem versions come with two mounting kits, for the bar end or handlebar.
These mirrors are completely symmetrical so can be mounted on and work equally well on either the left or right of the bicycle.
