Sturdy Cargo Racks

Our front racks are sturdy, well-made and also economically priced. Between the wide range of mounting options there is almost certainly a model which will fit your bike. There are two basic forms of front racks:

1. Handlebar mounted racks rotate with your handlebars. They're better for bulkier cargo as they don't conflict with your handlebars.
2. Frame-mounted racks can carry a heavier load without affecting the steering of your bike, but tall items carried may conflict with your bars

The "Transport" rack is the most popular option. This attaches to your handlebars and front wheel hub and provides a 30 cm x 29 cm (approximately one foot square) luggage space right in front of you where you can see your luggage. It works with almost any bike which has 26", 28" or 29" wheels and a rigid front fork.

The head-tube mounted rack fits into the head-tube. It's frame mounted so does not turn with the handlebars. This rack works with suspension forks.

Lastly, the V-brake boss mounting rack mounts on the V-brake mounts. It rotates with the handlebars, but can be used with suspension forks. The rack itself is in this case unsuspended.

We recommend that a sturdy sturdy stand and steering damper are used with front luggage racks as they make the bicycle more stable when loading or unloading. The Hebie double stand or the Spanninga Easy or Libra (adjustable version of the Easy) are our favourites. These will hold your bicycle upright when you park.
