North Road handlebars (moustache)

North Road shape bicycle handlebars. These are our favourite shape of bars for everyday bicycles. They are very comfortable to ride with over short distances or long.

This classic shape is fitted on old British 3 speed bicycles (including my own old 3 speed).

The clamp area is 25.4 mm (one inch) in diameter. This is the most common clamp diameter for handlebars, but not some stems are designed for a different diameter. The stems that we sell all have the same clamp diameter and are compatible with these handlebars.

Various options, see pull down menu. The steel version with aluminium look has the appearance of an aluminium handlebar but this is stronger. Recommended for carrying luggage on the handlebars.

Turned upside down, these make fine "moustache" handlebars.

Note: exact widths vary slightly with manufacturing date and colour. At the time of writing, black handlebars in stock are 550 mm long while the plain aluminium measure just over 600 mm. If you wish to make the bars narrower it is possible to shorten them by cutting the same amount off both ends of the bars with a hacksaw.

See the Additional Images for dimensions and the shape of the narrow and shorter/lower options. Shorter/lower positions the grips closer to the rider and lower on the bike (or higher if used upside down) while the narrow option results in a handlebar grip position which is closer to parallel.
