The B&M Cycle Star is the only mirror I've ever found to be useful on a bicycle. It's strong, it doesn't rattle around, and the optics are good. We've fitted them on our recumbent bikes, but they also fit upright bikes.
Two mounting kits are provided with this mirror, to suit either the bar end or centre of the handlebar. Photos in "Additional Images" show the two options for mounting. The bar end mounting is made of aluminium (several years ago this was plastic), that for the mid handlebar position made of plastic. Adequately tightened, either work well. Spare mounting kits are available.
