Bells

In most countries it is a legal requirement to have an audible warning device on a bicycle. In some countries it is a legal requirement that this be a bicycle bell. In any case, bicycle bells are simply good to have on a bike. If you need to warn someone of your presence, nothing says "bicycle" better than a bell.

We've a range of different styles of bells, from the light weight and small to heavier and more musical. We have sound samples for each bell, and we also tested them to find out which was the loudest. You can read about the test here.

Our favourite is the Ding Dong bell. This is both the loudest and the most musical sounding. You can hear what it sounds like by clicking here:

The second loudest is also the cheapest and the lightest - the ping bell. You can here that here:

Note that computer speakers cannot reproduce the sound at remotely the same volume as a real bell.
