Luggage Racks and accessories

We carry a wide range of Steco front racks. These are sturdy, well-made and yet also economically priced. Because of the wide range of mounting options, there is almost certainly a model which will fit your bike.

There are two basic forms: the type of rack which rotates with your handlebars and the type which is mounted to the frame. Frame-mounted racks can carry a heavier load without affecting the steering of your bike. However, racks which rotate with the handlebars can carry a bulkier cargo without conflicting with your handlebars. It's good to have the choice.

The "Transport" rack is the most popular option. It mounts on your handlebars and front wheel quick-release or nuts. This works with almost any bike which has 26", 28" or 29" wheels with a rigid front fork. i.e. no suspension. Also available in a childrens size for smaller bikes. This rack rotates with your handlebars.

The "Pick-up" mounts on a circular cross section down-tube of between 29 mm and 32 mm diameter. This is a frame mounted rack and can be used with suspension forks.

The head-tube mounted rack fits into the head-tube. It's frame mounted so does not turn with the handlebars. This rack can be used with suspension forks.

Lastly, the V-brake boss mounting rack mounts on the V-brake mounts. It rotates with the handlebars, but can be used with suspension forks. The rack itself is in this case unsuspended.

We recommend that the Hebie double stand and steering damper are used with front luggage racks as they make the bicycle more stable when loading or unloading.
